Yamagawa Japanese Restaurant, Beach Road

Didn’t manage to get seats for teppanyaki through walk in, so we tried the ala carte dishes. For me, the tempura futomaki was amazing. Well balanced mix of flavours. You could choose to get 4 ($11) or 8 pieces ($22). There was also the individual sushi. I had the botan ebi ($15) and it was fresh. They also gave the option to either fry the ebi head or make into soup. Overall, i would definitely go back to try the rest of the dishes.

Very good service and the staff are very attentive. Food is also very well prepared and everything tasted very fresh. Very good value when compared to other Japanese restaurants around. Even though the location is a little hard to get to without a car, it’s still worth a visit if you’re in the area.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yamagawa Japanese Restaurant, located at 7500A Beach Road, The Plaza, Singapore. This establishment offers an authentic Japanese dining experience, reminiscent of traditional eateries in Japan.  Ambiance & Service The restaurant boasts a cozy and intimate setting, featuring wooden furnishings and a clean-cut interior. The presence of a Japanese tatami room adds to the traditional ambiance, providing a private dining option for guests. The service was attentive and meticulous, enhancing the overall dining experience. and I really enjoyed the Umeshu after many years. Culinary Delights Yamagawa’s menu offers a diverse range of Japanese cuisine, including teppanyaki, sashimi, sushi, and a-la-carte dishes. The sashimi was fresh and sweet, with the salmon sashimi being a standout, reportedly flown in daily from Norway. The uni (sea urchin) sushi was velvety smooth and rich, providing a burst of natural goodness from the sea. The tempura was perfectly deep-fried to a light golden crisp, not overly oily, and the stir-fried yakiniku was served piping-hot off the teppanyaki griddle. Matcha ice cream with black bean was my choice for dessert. Chef Tan really delights. Overall Experience Dining at Yamagawa was a delightful experience. The combination of authentic cuisine, traditional ambiance, and excellent service makes it a must-visit for Japanese food enthusiasts in Singapore.

Yamagawa is a gem hidden out of sight! Only through word of mouth… Food is top notch especially the sashimi … Futomaki is a must order every time my family dines there … What makes this place stands out is Gary-san will go round talking to the clients and often comes out with impromptu birthday celebrations … highly recommend !!!

Authentic Japanese dishes. Soba was great. Sashimi and tempura reminded me of Japan. Personally I would have liked thicker sauce for soba and tempura. Tuna sashimi was so tender. Hotate was simply amazing. Staff were very attentive. I dropped chopsticks on the floor and one staff brought me a new pair within 5 seconds.

I had a wonderful evening dining here with my secondary school friends. The food was outstanding, the staff attentive, and the private dining room made the experience even more enjoyable. It was also an honour to meet the chef and his team, who made the evening truly memorable.

It was pretty quiet on a Saturday evening so it was nice for us to have the counter seat. The ingredients used were really fresh, for those that come with mayo, we were hoping it can be a bit lesser because it overpowers the seafood taste and can be a bit salty. Staff were friendly and attentive. Sake price was reasonable too.
